I already bought an N300 router a while ago (version 2; this one is version 3), and to be honest I really only wanted the XAVP1000 adapter plug, as it works with the router I have. I wish Netgear would just sell the adapter so that I didn't have to buy another router that I didn't need (although I suppose it could always be a spare if my present router ever dies). Anyway, because I'd already set up my previous router on my network, I literally had to make no changes. Just connected the new adapter plug into the old router, plugged the adapter plug into the wall, and everything worked like a charm. I'm using the Western Digital WD Livewire powerline kit that I reviewed previously; they are Homeplug AV-compliant and therefore compatible with the powerline router. All these products are fantastic and work perfectly both together and apart.
