This thing is fantastic. I thought I'd have to spend $150 for a system like this, but stumbled upon this one in the console aisle. Sure, it doesn't support Gigabit speeds, but since I'm just trying to extend my internet connectivity (vs. setting up high speed file transfer from my PC) I didn't need that.
Setup is ridiculously simple. You plug one of the two devices into an electrical outlet by your router, and connect it to your router via ethernet cable. Then, you plug the other one in to any other outlet in your house, and voila, you have an instant network port. Plug a device in, be it a 360, PS3, or laptop, and it's nearly as fast as if you were plugging it directly into the router. No software installation to speak of. It's stupidly simple.
If this is for an Xbox 360, it is a MUCH better deal than the grossly overpriced Xbox 360 wireless adapters. Not only is this cheaper, it is significantly faster than a weakened wireless signal. And as the first reviewer mentioned, this is NOT proprietary to the 360...it will work with any network device. The Xbox branding extends only to the packaging.
I'm stunned at how well it works. I'd have assumed it was an unreliable gimmick had I not read so many good things about it before my purchase, and I'm glad to say those positive statements are all accurate.
EDIT: Six months later and still working great. However, I've noticed that these appear to be the re-packaged version of the Netgear XETB1001. I recommend buying whichever is selling for less at the time.
